Place to Visit in Sylhet

Sylhet City is one of the most tourist attraction cities in Bangladesh,  situated beside the Surma River in the north-eastern part of Bangladesh.

You can easily reach Sylhet by Air, Train or Bus. Sylhet is famous for Tea and Natural gas.


Jaflong

Jaflong  

If you ask any Bangladeshi people about tourist attractions places in Sylhet, Jaflong is the first place that comes on their list. It is located on the boundary between Bangladesh and India Meghalaya state (India's north-eastern state).

The Piyain River flows between Bangladesh and India. The crystal clear river water, allows tourists to observe the array of underwater stones.


Tourists may also enjoy the gushing waterfalls and lush vegetation of Meghalaya's highlands, as well as the historic Dawki Bridge, a suspension bridge erected by the British in 1932 that serves as a road border crossing between Bangladesh and India. Jaflong’s “Zero Point” is the tourist hotspot.

The waterfall Mayabi Jhorna is only a 10 to 15-minute walk from Zero Point and is a popular tourist destination. Another waterfall, Khasia Village, may be reached by boat on the other side of the River.

The best time to visit Jaflong is from September to March. The distance between Sylhet City and Jaflong is around 57 kilometres and is easily accessible by bus and microbus.

Sreemangal

Sreemangal is recognised as Bangladesh's tea capital. It is a small town under the Sylhet District. Sreemangal is 190 km from Dhaka and 83 km from Sylhet.


In Sreemangal, you can visit Tea Gardens, Lawachara National Park, Madhabkunda Waterfall, Madhabpur Lake, and Sitesh Babur Zoo, among others. You can go by bus, train, or microbus. Tourists can visit Sreemangal during any season. 



Ratargul Swamp Forest

Ratargul Swamp Forest is Bangladesh's only freshwater reservoir, and it is managed by the Forest Department.

This Forest stays underwater for five to six months per year. Thousands of tourists visit the submerged trees throughout this time period. Don't miss the Ratargul Watch Tower, Climb to the peak and take in the views of the forest. Most suitable time to visit the rainy season or monsoon.

Exciting activity kayaking is available at Ratargul. It is the best to place for wildlife photography and wildlife lover. For example, bird lovers can enjoy sightings of various bird species and nature enthusiasts can experience many different kinds of plants.


 

Lalakhal

Lalakhal

Lalakhal has located about 44 km from Sylhet city, near the Meghalaya Mountain Ranges. Surrounded by hills, tea plantations, natural woods, and rivers are gradually becoming popular tourist destinations.



The main tourist attraction is Shari River's stunning turquoise water, with its little evergreen mounds on either side that stretch over the entire area, tourists can expect to see calm and transparent blue-green waters.

The perfect time to visit is the winter season.



 

Bisnakandi

Bisnakandi located near Sylhet on the India-Bangladesh border is a combination of green hills and clouds. A variety of stones and crystal-clear rivers flow from the Meghalaya Mountains in the northeast.


Tourists can sunbathe on the rocks or go for a calm swim. The Border Hut, which is a market, is located on the Bisnakandi-Bangladesh border. Although there is no defined schedule, the hut is normally open every four days. Mountain fruit, clothing, and cosmetics are sold by Khasian sellers.

Although tourists can travel to Bisnakandi any time of year, the preferable time to visit is from September to March.
